Import Restrictions

Mali requires an import permit for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit. Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

  • animal and animal products
  • personal items
  • pearls
  • precious metals
  • war materials
  • weapons.

Generally, items of low value free of import duty and taxes are admitted but may subject them to a lump sum levy.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

  • fish, crustaceans, molluscs
  • jewellery
  • live animals
  • meat and meat products
  • precious metals
  • publications harmful to young people, works contrary to public order
  • tobacco.

In addition, commercial goods mailed to Mali require an invoice and a Certificate of Origin.

For Priority Worldwide service, the addressee's address and phone number must appear on the item, otherwise the guarantee is void.
